I had a hard time deciding what I was going to do for 1134 Comix this week. I planned to make a new News from the Crypt episode. There were a few things that popped up in the news this past week that I though worthy of lampooning, but I just couldn’t decide. I might be moving away from making commentary through online comics. I’ve found myself much more focused lately on writing in general and other 1134 Press stuff. And I’ve been feeling the urge to get back to more drawing for fun, rather than going for jokes. I’m sure I’ll be making a comic about some politician before I know it, though. I’m all over the place.
I woke up today without a proper idea for 1134 Comix. I was going to skip this week. After putting on this Batman t-shirt, however, I had my idea. I always liked drawing Batman. He’s one of my favorite DC Comics heroes, and I think he’s fun to draw. I tend to go for the big, super muscle-bound version of Batman when I draw him. I also like the blue and gray costume to draw. I do like the black costume with the armor and everything, but if I’m drawing for fun, I’m going gray and blue.
I hope you enjoy the video!

I’m trying something a little different this week. Rather than a drawing of one of my comic characters, or something else similar to previous videos, I made a drawing in watercolor. For the drawing, I took inspiration from a short story I wrote some years ago now. If you would like to read the story that inspired my drawing, I’ll link to it below. The Story is called The Transcendental Man. I also give some more context to the drawing, and spend some time speaking about creativity, 1134 Comix, and 1134 Press in general. That’s another thing new this week—I actually put my face on camera.

This week I wanted to do another video on drawing cartoons. More specifically, original characters from the 1134 Comix pantheon. But which character to do … that was the question. A number of weeks ago I posted an episode of “News from the Crypt” that featured a character called, “Mr. Pillow.” Obviously, the character is based on Mike Pillow, famed conspiracy theorist and pillow man. I recorded the drawing at the time, but I never did anything with the video. I figured this week would be good as any to post up the creation of Mr. Pillow. Besides, the video I had previously started for this week went wildly off the rails—I think it’s turning into something different than intended (which could be good or bad).
I hope you like this short drawing video!

Halloween, oh Halloween, my favorite time of year. It’s that “spooky season” where I can’t help to make stuff featuring 1134 Comix’ original character, Blakbone. Those of you who have followed this blog for a long time are likely familiar with Blakbone. If not, that’s cool, you can catch up on his story by selecting “Blakbone” from the categories menu.
This time around I don’t have a new chapter to his ongoing story (though one will come about at some point, I’m sure). That said, you’ll probably see him pop back up with Grim Reaper again by the end of the month. This week, however, I thought I would do something similar to last week’s post and make another drawing video.
I present to you, Drawing Blakbone!
We’re doing something a little different this week, in the spirit of Halloween.
As part of a project for 1134 Press, I drew the classic movie monsters. We’ve had an 1134 Comix Youtube channel for a while and never really did much at all with it. We thought, “hey, why not make and post some drawing videos?” I might make some other stuff similar to the only other video we have up there currently (its a weird one, we’ll see). So, if you want more drawing videos, and random other stuff that might be kind of funny, go ahead and hit the subscribe button. Expect the schedule for posts on this channel to be irregular. Thanks for watching!
