Junk Journal With Me: Episode 2

6 Dec

We have a new Junk Journal With Me video hot off the 1134 Press. In this week’s video, Bryonna uses a combination of junk mail, vintage documents, and other materials to create a new spread in her junk journal. Bryonna briefly discusses where to source materials for your junk journal and how to build an image library.

Some of the materials for this project were sourced from a collection of old police documents I acquired while cleaning out my grandparents’ house a few years ago. I’ve always had a propensity to hang on to old papers; there’s something about looking back at papers from the past that just captures my interest. I’m always happy, though, when something that might have been thrown away finds a new purpose.

With Bryonna’s creative touch, the materials sourced for this project come together to make a visually appealing, and historically interesting collage. A mix of bureaucratic forms, pieces of mail, images and paper, can form something novel, as evidenced in the video.
